Overview

Present Parent is designed to help parents be more present with their children by temporarily limiting access to selected apps during designated family time.

The App is available on iOS and Android devices. Kizuna Brands Limited is registered in England and Wales and complies with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The App allows users to:

  • Does not collect personal information beyond what is necessary to deliver scheduled push notifications
  • Does not track user behaviour
  • Does not contain advertising
  • Does not sell or share data with third parties

Information We Collect and Why

To deliver reliable scheduled app restrictions — including when the app is closed — Present Parent uses a lightweight backend server. This requires collecting a small amount of technical information from your device.

2.1 Device Token

When you enable notifications, your device generates an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token. This is a system-generated identifier used solely to route push notifications to your device. It is not linked to your name, email address, or Apple ID, and is not used for advertising or tracking purposes.

Your device token is stored securely on our server and updated automatically if it changes (for example, after reinstalling the app).

2.2 Device UUID

The app generates a random identifier (UUID) on first launch and stores it locally on your device. This UUID is sent to our server alongside your device token to allow your schedules to be associated with your device. It is not linked to your Apple ID or any personal account.

2.3 Schedule Data

When you create or edit a family time schedule, the following information is sent to and stored on our server:

How Scheduled Locking Works

To lock and unlock apps reliably — including when Present Parent is fully closed — our server sends a silent background push notification to your device at the scheduled time. Your device receives this notification and applies or removes the app restriction locally using Apple's ScreenTime frameworks (FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettings).

All app restriction enforcement occurs on your device. The server does not have access to which specific apps are blocked, your usage data, or your screen time information.

App Blocking & Device Permissions

iOS Devices

On iOS devices the App uses Apple's ScreenTime frameworks, including FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings. These allow the App to temporarily shield selected applications during a focus session.

The App does not access or collect Screen Time usage data, does not monitor device behaviour, and does not transmit Screen Time information.

Android Devices

On Android devices the App may request certain permissions to enable the app-blocking feature, which may include:

These permissions are used solely to enforce the app restrictions configured by the user.

The App does not collect app usage statistics and does not transmit device activity data. You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings, though doing so may disable certain features.

Notifications

The App requests permission to send push notifications, which may include:

Notifications are delivered via Apple's APNs infrastructure. The App does not use notifications for advertising or marketing purposes.

You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings, though doing so will prevent scheduled locking from working reliably when the app is closed.

Section 6

Our Server and Data Storage

We operate a backend server to store device tokens, device UUIDs, and schedule data. This server is necessary to send push notifications at the correct scheduled time.

Data stored on our server:

  • APNs device token
  • Device UUID (randomly generated, not linked to your identity)
  • Timezone
  • Schedule days and times

This data is stored securely, encrypted at rest, and transmitted over HTTPS. We do not store names, email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information.

Device tokens that fail to deliver notifications for 30 or more consecutive days are automatically deleted from our server along with associated schedule data.

Subscriptions & Payments

Present Parent may offer optional paid subscriptions. Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management platform.

RevenueCat facilitates purchases through the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android). Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Google — Kizuna Brands Limited does not receive your payment details.

Expo

The App is built using the Expo development framework. Expo may collect anonymous diagnostic or crash data to improve application stability. No personally identifiable information is collected by us through Expo.

Apple Push Notification service (APNs)

Used to deliver scheduled notifications to iOS devices. APNs is operated by Apple Inc. Device tokens are transmitted to Apple solely for the purpose of routing notifications.

Section 9

Information We Do Not Collect

Present Parent does not collect or store:

  • Names or email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Location information
  • Contact lists
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Behavioural analytics or usage patterns
  • Screen Time usage data
  • The specific apps you choose to block

The App does not contain advertising networks or tracking technologies.

Section 10

Children's Privacy

Present Parent is designed for use by parents and adult users. The App is not directed at children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can address the issue.

Section 11

Data Retention & Deletion

Data stored locally on your device can be deleted at any time by using the Reset Data feature in the App settings, or by uninstalling the App.

Data stored on our server (device token, UUID, timezone, and schedule times) can be deleted on request. Because the App does not require an account, please contact us at hello@kizunabrands.com with your device UUID (found in App Settings) and we will delete your data promptly.

Server-side data is also automatically deleted if your device token becomes inactive for 30 or more days.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK GDPR, our lawful bases for processing are:

Contractual necessity — processing your device token, UUID, timezone, and schedule data is required to deliver the core functionality of the App (scheduled app restrictions via push notification).

Legitimate interests — limited technical processing such as crash diagnostics, to ensure the stability and security of the App.

The App does not perform profiling or automated decision-making.

Section 14

Security

We take reasonable steps to ensure data is handled securely. All data transmitted between the App and our server is encrypted via HTTPS. Data stored on our server is encrypted at rest.

We do not store sensitive personal information, and the data we hold (device token, UUID, timezone, schedule times) is of low sensitivity.

In the event of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority as required by applicable law.

Section 15

International Use

Present Parent may be used internationally. Where applicable, we aim to comply with relevant privacy regulations including UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and COPPA (United States).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, the updated version will be published within the App or on our website and the Last Updated date will be revised. Where changes are material, we will notify you via the App.
